How can I transfer my extra luggage across the country?

I’m about to take an Amtrak train from New Orleans to Chicago and am relocating. I have about 8 bags of stuff I want to take, but the guidelines for Amtrak limit me to just 5 total and I was told that they would not accept any after 5. How can I transport the extra luggage across the country? Preferably for less than the cost of an additional ticket.
