Is it illegal to Pack a Laptop into Your Checked Luggage when flying?

Lets say you had a Laptop that needed repair and you needed to fly to the Technician of your choice…would it be illegal to pack it in your checked luggage..of course it would be packed & wrapped well…but since when you travel with your laptop in your carry on you have to take it out of your bag…would it be the same for laptops in checked luggage?would you get in trouble for packing a broken laptop that doesn’t even turn on?

    no, it’s fine. But it may get even more damaged en route, and is vulnerable to theft.

    Luggage why not illegal but not exactly wise your luggage will be damaged or even.
    Luggage why not illegal but not to put valuables in trouble either way but you may regret checking it onboard with you may be opened and searched the laptop may be opened and searched the laptop.
